His companions had died suddenly: a life of baked clay, another tarred and feathered game, third killed by a poisonous snake. But this man, the vade mecum for an unfortunate Safari, is naked, as a small knife, and executed.

Run!

A few hundred yards ahead, hunters.

Never has the term “single minded” apropos since more than in the discussion Cornel Wilde’s The Naked Prey. Almost without dialogue, for most of its duration, the film is simply a continuation of hunting - a beautifully filmed, heart-pounding continued hunting in the savannahs of Africa. The pace is fierce in real time and rare wildlife and beautiful, but also deadly. How long can a man run? If it is more than one day, where it is the food? Water?

A penalty is based on the true story of John Colter’s run black foot of the Indian Indians in 1809, Cornel Wilde’s The Naked Prey is immersed in colonial Africa in the 1860’s. Wilde plays a guide who led a hunting party (headed by Gert Van der Bergh hunters) in the steppe in search of big game. The part as a result of a local tribe’s land, the tribe tells members to give a gift. Van der Bergh, and rejects the hunting, and it is addressed members tortured and killed. Only Wilde ( “The Man”) is authorized to live and run. As he emerges from the form, it is smart, and not only survive, but for several days to kill more of its Tracker manages. But how long can it?

Wilde, who was born in Hungary Kornel Weiz, emerged in the 1940’s a series of romances and black front of adventure and war films, including The Naked Prey is the best known. As an actor, he is an imposing figure - intense, tough - but credible. While Wilde was an athlete (he was the Olympic fencing team), a young man, he was sick (and behind in its forty), and The Naked Prey. The state charges its performance with a greater realism. (Remember the film, Wilde, can survive?) Many times appear, and unwritten Wilde (HAR cameraman with Thomson) is the perfect choice for the beauty and brutality of the environment and full of thorns and brambles seems outcroppings.
